As part of a general project to get more of my unreleased music out there I’m making these Machinochrist live sets available for the first time since their original airings. Presented as they were originally recorded with no mastering or polishing, and plenty of hiss and noise, these sets represent Machinochrist 2005-2007 and include an absolute tonne of tracks which were never released in any way. I’ve tried as best I can to work out what the dates of the sets were, but they definitely could be wrong since my record keeping and memory from that time is patchy at best!
I was always obsessed with trying to make sets a bit more live than the usual “stand on stage and queue up tracks in Winamp” breakcore experience so even tracks that you know from other releases get mangled to questionable levels of success here, and although some tracks are repeated across sets they are reasonably different performances. For the whole time I wrote as Machinochrist I had the worst laptop in the world, which would invariably break down completely the moment it got near a rig or a stage, so there are a few live sets that I didn’t include in this collection due to technical issues, and you’ll also certainly here some moment in the sets included here where that nightmare computer is trying to keep it together.

I’m planning to find a way to get a lot of the studio versions of the unreleased tracks in these live sets polished to whatever degree is possible from the original renders and released but, since the project files are basically unworkable 15 years down the line, it’s a time consuming project so don’t hold your breath on when that might happen! The early unreleased stuff will definitely come out at some point as I have good renders of those, but sadly the later stuff is not in such good shape and there are also a few tracks, or versions of tracks, in these sets which I don’t have renders for so this might be the only way to ever hear them. There must be a good 30 finished unreleased Machinochrist tracks in the archive!
You might note that a few tracks here have Bad Sekta catalog labels but if you go to their bandcamp you will see that said releases are missing my tracks, no need to get into the bad blood there but maximum disrespect to them for rewriting history, if you have the original CD’s then you’ll see my tracks. When I get the archives released I’ll make sure that all of those tracks get a new release too.

For those that were at the various events captured in these recordings I hope they bring a good sense of nostalgia, and for everyone else I hope you enjoy hearing a few tunes that never found their way to being heard outside of gigs.
